The purpose of my book is to investigate the effect of using performance-based assessment on tenth grade students' language accuracy achievement at Mafraq Directorate of Education. The researcher followed the equivalent pre/post T test two group designs. To achieve the purpose of the study, a pre/post-test comprehension test with grammar components was constructed to measure students' achievement in language accuracy. The test consisted of four components: Reading comprehension questions, grammar questions, vocabulary questions and writing questions The findings indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the post- test between the control and the experimental groups in favor of the experimental group, and there was no statistically significant difference in the students' achievement due to gender. There was no statistically significant difference due to the interaction between gender and group. The researcher proposed some recommendations to enhance the effect of using performance-based assessment on students' language accuracy such as conducting further studies on other populations and for a longer time

Good ride performance is one of the most important key attribute of a passenger vehicle. One of the methods to achieve this is by using continuously variable transmission (CVT). This is because a CVT has the capability of providing an almost infinite ratio within its limits smoothly and continuously. In this thesis, the work focuses on developing an intelligent control system that will provide the appropriate CVT ratio based on a vehicle maximum power driving strategy. This will provide maximum acceleration performance at all time during driving. On-line values of the engine speed and throttle opening are used as inputs to the developed intelligent controller, which then will provide the appropriate required CVT ratio for the vehicle to perform accordingly. An electromechanical dual acting pulley CVT designed (EMDAP-CVT)and developed by the Drivetrain Research Group (DRG) UTM, is used in this work. EMDAP-CVT with zero belt misalignment give a great performance and longer belt life. Adaptive artificial neural network (AANN) is then applied as intelligent controller and the results show that the intelligent controller using AANN performs satisfactorily.

Since previous instances the requirements of environmental, economic and social aspects for all stages of the life cycle of buildings have increased. The criteria of sustainability are included in building environmental assessment systems and tools used in different countries for evaluating the performance of buildings. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the building environmental assessment system (BEAS) which was developed at the Technical University of Kosice. The Slovak system was developed on the basis of existing systems used in many countries. The indicators were proposed according to available information analysis from particular fields of building performance as well as on the basis of our own experimental experiences. Identification of fields and indicators of assessment is processed by confrontation with foreign approach and conformable with the criteria of building sustainability. After fields and indicators were proposed, they were then weighted using the AHP method. The proposed building environmental assessment system has been verified. Consequently a software tool was suggested for simplification of the process for building performance evaluation.

Estimating flood hazard in areas subject to flooding from rivers is the basis of many hydrological studies. An estimate of the spatial dimension of the flood event is implicitly deduced from these stages. This study focused on the determination of producing flood plain map from different Annual Rainfall Intensity (ARI) and hydraulic. A numbers of flood plain map were designed using ArcView GIS 3.3 with extension of HECGeoRAS and by using HEC-RAS as hydraulic model. While CCHE2D model visualise the flood extend in 2D and as a comparison with HEC-RAS. Results show that different storm events produced different flood plain extent. As the increase of storm events from 2 years of storm event in 1 hour to 100 years of storm events in 1 hour, the flood plain maps extent were increased both for predevelopment and post development. Therefore, there is the limit in producing a flood plain map. In view of this, research into flooding represents a pressing concern and should be seen as one of the most important applied roles of the hydrological sciences and as a tools towards sustainability development of the ecosystem.

In that sense, Congestion menaces the network performance and, consequently, the overall HPC system operation. It analyzes the drawbacks of proposed solutions, where none of the existing techniques for this type of networks achieves a complete efficiency and scalability. In that sense, the new proposals adapt the RECN basic principles to distributed-routing networks, by means of efficient and scalable techniques which can be divided in two groups: simple techniques which achieve the optimal network performance with the available resources, and completely-efficient techniques which achieve almost the maximum network performance at an affordable cost in terms of network resources.

The purpose of this quantitative study was to explore the effects of new district mathematics curriculum on Nebraska State Accountability-Mathematics (NeSA-M) student cohort scores from 2011 to 2012. This study was significant in isolating variables individual school districts may control in order to do their part in changing the current condition in the United States regarding mathematics learning. The district mathematics curriculum implemented in the fall of 2011 not only contained increases in both content and rigor but also requirements for the learning of content-specific vocabulary, for the learning of literacy strategies to aide mathematical problem solving, and for explaining critical thinking and problem-solving processes in writing. Last, this study was important in that fiscal responsibility and ethics necessitated analysis of spending as the research district spent nearly $2.5 million in developing and implementing the new district mathematics curriculum. Whereas this seminal study indicates statistically significant effects upon student performance on the NeSA-M after implementing district mathematics curriculum, it also implies a need for more research.
